He was predeceased by: his parent Willie Powell Carter; his wife Sondra Spell Carter; and his sisters, Jean Young and Martha Carter. He is survived by: his children, Beth Zeagler (Ralph) of Lexington, Joseph Carter of Lexington and Kathy Randall (William) of Lexington. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
