She was predeceased by: her parents, Ineal Shird and Leroy Shird; her husband Sylvester "Syl" Byrd; her son Cophonso "Ducky" Wilkinson; and her siblings, Zella, Alice Shird and Butch.
She is survived by: her sister Nancy Crawford; and her children, Marrella, Sheila, Celia "Pebbles" (Jun), Danni (Danny), Ronni and Bobby (Stephanie). She is also survived by her 24 grandchildren; and a beautiful legacy of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Thompson Funeral Home (845 Leesburg Rd, Columbia, SC 29209). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel (845 Leesburg Rd, Columbia, SC 29209). A burial will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229).
