David DeSau wrote a sympathy message

“I served with Rufus in Basic Training in the US Air Force in Sept 1966. He was my best friend in basic Training ,and when we went to advanced training at Sheppard AFB, TX. He was a great friend and an even better person. It is very sad to lose such a great human being. My life is much richer for having known him as a friend. , David DeSau, Neskowin, Oregon”
