With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Verland Peter Burckhard (Columbia, South Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 21, 2025 at the age of 78. He was predeceased by: his parents, Fabian Burckhard and Lucille Burckhard; and his wife Rebecca Ann Burckhard. He is survived by: his children, John Burckhard, Scott Burckhard, Sarah West, Julee Cox and Stephanie Rotchstein; his siblings, Terry Burckhard, Randy Burckhard, Kevin Burckhard and Bonnie Smith; and his caregivers, Dee, Emily and Susan. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Dunbar Funeral Home (3926 Devine St, Columbia, SC 29205). Visitation was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the same location.
