He was predeceased by: his parents, Elise Hampton Cunningham and Vincent Anthony Cunningham; his grandparents, Ambrose Cunningham, Louise Cunningham, Joe Hampton, Sr. and Ella Vee Davenport Hampton; his aunts and uncles, Bennie James Avery, Sr., Lillie Bell Hampton, Joe Hampton, Jr., Marie Davis Hampton, H. Leslie Cunningham and Gerald Cunningham; his stepdaughter Tamika McCoy; his sister Gail Cunningham; and his cousins, Gerald Hampton, Herman Hampton and Bennie James Avery, Jr..

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Bowman Cunningham; his son Brian (Heatherlyn); his stepsons, Juan, Dwayne and Erving McCoy; his cousins, Vassie Hampton Eng, Joe Hampton III, Thomas Hampton, Kaye Hampton and Sandy Avery-Nubian; and his friends, Jaynell White and Steve Robinson. He is also survived by sisters, along with many loving extended family.
