It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Walter Shell Suber Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina, born in Whitmire, South Carolina, who passed away on May 8, 2023, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Shell Suber and Margaret Martin Suber; his sisters, Margaret Price and Rankin Craig; and his wife Linda Jones Suber.

He is survived by: his close friend Nancy Louise Smith; his sons, Walter Shell Suber III (Jennifer Claps Suber) and James Whitmire Suber (Nancy Alcorn Suber); and his grandchildren, Sarah Reynolds Suber, Abigail Brescia Suber, Lydia Hatton Suber, James Whitmire Suber, Jr. and Walter Shell Suber IV.

Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
