It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Mikell Hammond (Columbia, South Carolina), who passed away on September 15, 2023, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hampton Bland Hammond and Katrina Pardue Hammond. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Lott Hammond (Betty) of Columbia, SC; his children, Elizabeth LeConte (Connie), Katrina Hammond (Katie) and John William Ripon Pope, III of Ninety Six, SC; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Thackston, Emily Thackston, William Thackston, Mikell Hanson, William Pope, Colby Pope and Hampton Pope; his sibling's children, Carrie Hammond Waller and Richard Hammond; and also Hampton Bland Hammond, Jr. (Rusty).
