He is survived by: his wife Regine; his children, Thomas Perez (Sh'ay) of Apex, N. C., David Perez (Kim) of Summerville, S. C. and Suzanne Perez (Andrew Tade) of Wichita, Kansas; and his grandchildren, Tyler, Stephen, Gregory, Timothy, Melissa, Allison, Hannah and Jack. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Philip Lutheran Church (6200 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572). During the COVID-19 pandemic, A. J. and his team of kitchen helpers prepared countless to-go meals, also raising funds for church youth activities.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Operation Homefront, a nonprofit supporting military veterans programs.
