Murray Hertzberg lit a candle

“I attended AIC college’70-‘75 on a basketball scholarship. Art was an assistant coach. I also played 1 year of baseball under him . He had a wonderful way about him.. so calm. I thought it may have been b/c he was on the world stage with the Yankees, & then in college athletics.No one would ever have known about his past, he was so humble .! I thankfully got to see him maybe 20 years ago at a card signing show in White Plains, NY What a great, humble, positive person- RIP COACH 🙏🏼”

“I attended AIC college on a basketball scholarship from the fall of ‘71 - ‘75 .. Coach Ditmar was an assistant basketball coach as well as the head baseball coach. In my sophomore year, there was a need for a shortstop on the baseball team, so I played 1 year & could not continue due to having a baby boy. Coach Ditmar was a wonderful coach, but an even better person ! Everyone looked up to him not only for his success in MLB, but his beautiful demeanor & encouragement that was ever present RIP”
