She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Branton and Fleetwood Branton; and her husband Herbert McKendree Ballington Jr. of Lexington, SC.. She is survived by: her children, Matthew Abbott and Brandi Abbott Thompson (Timothy). She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Children's Recovery Center or the Alzheimer's Association in Carolyn's memory.
