With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dorothy E. Simmons (Conway, South Carolina), born in Cementon, New York, who passed away on February 5, 2021 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her spouse Alwin R. Simmons; her parents, Frank Brockway and Estella Brockway (Scott); and her siblings, Frank, William Brockway, Evelyn Clark and Deloris McCutchen.

She is survived by: her daughters, Sharon Bernadeu (John) of Murrells Inlet, Bonnie Berryann (Ronnie) of Bishopville, SC and Susan Ryan of Murrells Inlet; her grandchildren, Cherity Berryann, Douglas Berryann and Kelley Lizardi; and her great grandchild Madison Sosnowski.

Due to the pandemic, inurnment will occur at a later date in New York.

“Dorothy and Al were my sweet and loving neighbors. I grew to love them both. I tried to show them the love that they showed to me over many years, especially after I lost my precious Mother. Dorothy told me many times how she cried missing Al. I made sure to spend time with her which was dear to me. I will think of them until I am also gone. Dorothy is now at peace with Al and God in her heavenly home. So dearly loved. So sadly missed. God bless.”
