He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph B. Evans, Sr. and Ada Tisdale Evans. He is survived by: his wife Victoria Rush Evans (Vic); his grandsons, V. Evan and Anthony Mitchell; his children, Anthony Evans (Jackie), Antonio Evans (Gabriela), Cheryl Evans Brown (Calvin), Sabrina Evans Brown (Daryl) and Corey Evans (Sakinah); his foster children, Candace Tubens (Anthony) and Durian Ross; his siblings, Marier Stapleton (MH) and Girard Evans (Deloris); his grandchildren, Antonio Evans, Jr. (Janeth), Daniel Evans, Victoria Brown Ward (Michael), Corey Evans, Jr., KaMari, Kaelyn Stanley, Zymire Thigpen, Iyanah, Ahsiah and Zuri Tubens; his great grandchildren, Michael Elijah, Hendon and Isaac Ward; and his caregivers, LaQuisha, Leann and Anita. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
