He was predeceased by : his parents, George Hodges and Mary Hodges of Hamlet; his sister Jo Hodges of Hamlet; and his former life partner Kay Jurs Hodges. He is survived by : his wife Lucy McNair Hodges; his children, Michael Hodges II of Myrtle Beach and Jill Smith Krieger (Shannon Krieger); his grandchildren, Brodie Krieger of Wilmington, NC and Ella Kay Hodges of Conway, SC.; and his siblings, Jerry Hodges of Zebulon, NC and Faye Hodges Gaylord (James) of Garner, NC.. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and extended family.
