She was predeceased by: her parents, Olin Turner and Florie Idell Chestnut; and her siblings, Giles Wendell Chestnut, Olin Trenton Chestnut, Allison Stevens and Teresa Faye Chestnut.
She is survived by: her husband George; her children, Terry Lynn Leonard (Joe) of Kanata, Canada, George Russell Laing (Allison) of Wrightsville Beach, NC and Scott Alan Laing (Kristin) of Austin Texas; her granddaughters, Brooke Nicole Reid (Chris Reid) of Raleigh, NC, Casey Marie Laing of Durham, NC and Fiona Saffron Laing of Austin, Texas; her great grandchild Alston Grace Reid; and her sister Olga V. Caissy of Conway, SC. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Nedra requested that donations be made to Mt. Sylvan United Methodist Church (5731 N. Roxboro Rd., Durham, NC 27712 http://mtsylvan.org) or Ronald McDonald House of Durham (506 Alexander Ave., Durham, NC 27705 https://rmhdurhamwake.org) where she volunteered for many years.
