He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Appel and Kathleen Appel. He is survived by: his son Andrew Joseph Appel, Sr. (Tania); his grandchildren, Emily Nina Lupien (Chris) and Andrew Joseph Appel, Jr.; and his great grandchild Imogene Francis Lupien.
