He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnny Fort and Lessie Young Fort; his siblings, Helena Hutto, Maxine Bates and Billy Fort Sr. (Sue Carol Whetstone); and his son John Wilton Fort, Jr. (Witt).

He is survived by: his daughters, Branndon Fort (Brandi) and Nikki Bearden; his grandchildren, Nikki Fort, Nancy Fort and Brantlie Taylor Mundo (Adan); and his great grandchildren, Kali Floyd, Aleah Floyd, A'jay Floyd, Rowan Mundo, Sawyer Mundo and Chloe Hightower. He is also survived by other extended family members and friends.
