It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald Gilbert (Cowpens, South Carolina), who passed away on February 3, 2026, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the sacred silence of farewell, Gerald is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Gerald's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Gilbert and Ruth Fowler Gilbert; and his brother Eddie Dean. He is survived by: his daughter Angela Gilbert Mathis (Steve) of Cowpens.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 6th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Converse Baptist Church (325 Main St, Cowpens, SC 29329). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 6th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, February 6th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel (1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307).
