He was predeceased by: his parents, Jones Edward Whiten and Anna Grace Jewel Segars; his wife Barbara Jean Maxwell Whiten; his son-in-law Kyler McAbee (Shanna); and his sisters, Kathleen Luly Andrews, Margaret Grace Kelly and Georgia Lee Thain.
He is survived by: his children, David Glen Whiten (Lavonna) of Greenville, Ronald Gene Whiten of Cross Hill, Brian Edwin Whiten (Beth) of Duncan, Teresa Ann Adams of Cross Hill and Paula Denise Gosnell of Greer; his grandchildren, Kristina Hale (Matthew), Brandon Gosnell (Angela), Shanna Gosnell, Shannon McAbee (Scott), Cameron Whiten, Stephen Nalley, Nicole Campos (Chris), Harley Whiten, Preston Whiten, Chase Whiten (Gracie), Emma Whiten and Sarah Whiten; and his brother Thomas Edward Whiting. He is also survived by nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
