He was predeceased by: his father Charles Edward Smith Jr.; his wife Essie Lewis Smith; and his brothers, Charles Edward Smith III and Edward Clark Smith. He is survived by: his daughters, Honey Newberry (Robert) of Darlington, SC and Gwendolyn Miles (Clint) of Darlington, SC; his brother Gene Smith (Toshiko) of Pasadena, CA; his daughter Pam Kerr (Steve) of Hatfield, PA; and his granddaughters, Heather Suen of North Charleston, SC, Courtney Seltzer (Scott) of Glen Mills, PA and Kristen Daneker of Royersford, PA. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
