He was predeceased by: his parents, John Spires, Sr. and Annie Faust Spires; and his siblings, Walter "Winky" Spires, Sarah Spires and Annie Evelyn Simpkins.
He is survived by: his wife Linda K. Spires; his children, John L. Spires, III, Randall "Ty" Spires (Mary), Teresa Yarborough (Michael), Michele Spires, David Stiltner (Michele) and Jennifer Ojeda; his grandchildren, Casey, Chelsey, Tyler, Brianne, Chandler, Cierra, Ethan and Joel Estrada Spires; and his former wife Patricia Spires.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM and at 1:00 PM at the Dominion Church (1355 E McIver Rd, Darlington, SC 29532).
