He was predeceased by: his parents, James Sam Hatcher and Mary Vindell Hatcher; and his siblings, Jean Hatcher Hayes, Frances Barrineau, Gladys Gray, Mary Evelyn Peacock, Hartley Hatcher, Doyle Hatcher and Sam Hatcher, Jr..

He is survived by: his sons, George Winston Hatcher, Jr. (Julie) of Lake View and Gregory Winston Hatcher (Jennifer) of Lake View; his grandchildren, Ashlyn Hatcher Barnes (Joseph) of Bishopville, SC and Avery Winston Hatcher of Lake View; his sisters, Mildred Daniels of Myrtle Beach, SC, Carolyn Bryant of Dillon and Elsie Mae Osborn of Tryon, NC; his niece Ann; and his nephew Dennis McDaniel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
