He was predeceased by: his parents, David George McDowell and Louise Jackson McDowell; his sisters, Donna Mae Zurcher and Shirley Ann Dillard; his nephew James "Fatboy" Dillard; and his brother-in-law Albert Dillard.
He is survived by: his son Scott Grimsley (Laura) of Florence; his stepchildren, Tinna Grimsley of Little Rock and Stephen Grimsley of Hamer; his grandchildren, Chelsea Grimsley, Miranda Grimsley, Trunity, Jalen and Trystyn; his great grandchild Meikyh; his niece Angie Jackson (Hardy) of Dillon; his nephews, James Lane (Lori), William Lane (Mary), Gene Zurcher (Susan) and Wayne Dillard (Michelle); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Shani Jackson Fly, Storm Jackson, Brandon Thomas Taylor, Tanner Ross McCormick, Sherry Dillard, Russell Wayne Dillard, Jr., Kimberly McMahon, Donna Sims, Cody Zurcher and Macie Snipes; and his caregivers, Teddy and Lori Lane. He is also survived by 10 great-great-nieces and nephews.
