He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Mack Owens, Sr. and Thelma Coleman Owens; his wife Norma Jean Owens; his son Jay Warren Owens; and his siblings, Layton Owens, Murrell Owens, Ann Demery and Doris Stroman.

He is survived by: his sons, Mark A. Owens (Sandy) of Hartsville, Kevin P. Owens of Dillon and Michael T. Owens (Lucy) of Dillon; his grandchildren, Hannah, Brandon of Hartsville and Katelyn Owens; and his siblings, Buck Owens of Rains, SC and Esteleen Rogers of Zion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church , 400 N. 4th Ave. , Dillon , SC 29536 .
