Mattie Lou Wallace Strickland Obituary

We are sad to announce that on September 17, 2025, at the age of 95, Mattie Lou Wallace Strickland of Dillon, South Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Owen Lane and Anna Bell McCall Wallace; her husband Edwin Strickland; her son Edwin Owen Strickland (Bubba); her granddaughter Amy Patton Gill; and her siblings, Julia Lane W. McLaurin, Sarah W. Payne and Osbourne L. Wallace.

She is survived by: her children, Mattie McCall Gill of Dillon and David Shelley Strickland (Holli) of Dillon; her grandchildren, Sallie G. Brown (Ritchie) of Camden, Rebecca Strickland Van Pelt (Camden) of Florence, Shelley Wallace Strickland of Florence, Edwin A. Strickland (Alex) of Latta and Slaydon Strickland of Latta; and her great grandchildren, Tripp Patton, Mya, Ian, Mattie and Lottie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 21st 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:45 PM at the First Baptist Church of Dillon (400 N 4th Ave, Dillon, SC 29536). A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 21st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
