He was predeceased by: his parents, James Coit and Myrtle Crites Cox; his son Joseph Brian Cox; his sister Dorothy Lucille Cox Fletcher; and his nephew James Morris Moss.
He is survived by: his wife Merry Busbee Cox; his children, Matthew Vardon Cox (Reagan) of Due West, SC, Daniel Brandon Cox of Due West, SC and Tara Vardon Cox Setzler (Ben) of Newberry, SC.; his sisters, Kathryn C. Hoffman of Rock Hill, SC, Jo Rita C. Perry of Heathsville, VA and Dorcas C. Moss of Gastonia, NC.; his grandchildren, Peyton C. Cox, Mati A. Cox, Reed M. Cox, Benjamin V. Setzler and Eli J. Setzler; and his daughter-in-law Dava Cox.
