He was predeceased by: his parents, William Workman and Laura Waddle Compton. He is survived by: his wife Betty Counselman Compton; his children, Michael Ray Compton (Cindy) and Amy Compton Flanigan (Patrick); and his grandchildren, Matthew Compton (Hannah), Chelsea Compton, Christopher Compton, Aiden Flanigan and Collin Flanigan.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Stribling Funeral Home (118 W Main St, Duncan, SC 29334). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Ramp Fund or Benevolence Fund at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Moore, SC.
