James Ernest will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around him. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Charles and Martha Smalls Gladden; his wife Betty Waddell Gladden; and his siblings, Floyd "Red" Gladden, Johnny Gladden, Vertis, Lee Gladden and Mabel Edwards.
He is survived by: his children, Brandi Millwood (Rick) and Jamey Gladden; and his grandchildren, Jessie Parker and Samantha Parker. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stribling Funeral Home (118 W Main St, Duncan, SC 29334). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens (4164 SC-9, Boiling Springs, SC 29316).
