James Ray Dowis Obituary
We are sad to announce that on October 12, 2025, at the age of 93, James Ray Dowis of Duncan, South Carolina passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Ray Dowis to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Milton Dowis and Elizabeth Lister Dowis; his siblings, Jewel Mullinax, Mary Gregory and Roy Dowis; his wife Thelma Dowis; and his children, Jimmy Dowis and Anna Dowis.
He is survived by: his brother Jerry "Bud" Dowis; his sister-in-law Nancy Dowis; his sibling's child Kim Hautamaki (Gary); his grandchildren, Daniel Hautamaki (Katie) and Emily Hindman (Patrick); and his great grandchildren, Sam, Annie and Nora Hautamaki.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Duncan First Baptist Church (103 E Main St, Duncan, SC 29334). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Duncan First Baptist Church, District 5 Backpack ministry, 103 East Main Street, Duncan, SC 29334.
