He was predeceased by : his parents, Rev. Guy Humphries Lawson, Sr. and Lillian Merritt Donnan Lawson; his former life partner Irene Sightler Lawson; his siblings, Guy H. Lawson, Jr. and Mary Lillian Rivers; and his brother-in-law Charles Cannon.

He is survived by : his wife Ella Lawson; his sons, Marion Lawson (Tracy) of Liberty and Michael Lawson (Alison) of Youngsville, NC; his sister Glenda Cannon of Lyman; his brother-in-law Gilbert Rivers of Powdersville; his grandchildren, James Lawson (Tara), Emily Moats (Chandler), Samuel Lawson, Brandon Lawson, Nicholas Lawson and Zachary Lawson; and his great grandchildren, Noah Lawson, Judah Lawson and Lawson Moats.
