He is survived by: his wife Gladys Carter Gathers; his children, Charles Gathers Jr. (Donyella Gathers), Latrell Dorsey, Shannon Montgomery Jones, Shashawn Montgomery Davis (Ricky Davis), Shirley Gathers Houghton (David Houghton) and Ty'Rek Devaughan; his siblings, Diane Nesmith (Cleveland Nesmith) and Harry McFadden; his grandchildren, Sha'netta Williams, Zy'Nyia, Za'Maury Gathers, Dayvon Dorsey, Brittany Dorsey, James Jones, Logan Davis, Noah, Immanuel and Zoe Houghton; his great grandchildren, Ava Dorsey, Aiden Dorsey, Harlem Dorsey Taliah, Terry Slaughter, Ja'Niyah and Ja'Mir Robinson; and his siblings-in-law, Betty Ann Johnson, Dixie Gathers, Cynthia Carter, Willie Carter (Linda Carter) and James Carter (Anabell Carter). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
