With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gene E Collins of Effingham, South Carolina, born in Florence, South Carolina, who passed away on August 11, 2023 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Willie M. Collins and Ethel Moore Collins. He is survived by : his son Gregg Edwin Collins; his brother Willie Collins, Jr.; his nephew Jackie Earl Collins; his wife Mona Robison Collins; his children, Mona C. Sechrest (Randy) and Gary Ellis Collins; his grandchildren, Brandon Ellis Collins (Katherine), Heather Michelle Sechrest (Dan Shook) and Christian Ellis Collins; and his great grandchild Lawson James Collins. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many other special extended family.

Memorials may be made to the Tabernacle Cemetery Fund or to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.

I feel like I have known him but for a minute, however that feeling is eternal. Life seems long until you lose a person who gives you the good minutes that makes the rest of the minutes bearable.
