He was predeceased by: his parents, John Byron and Eddie Mae McMillian Walden; his son Derrick Walden; and his brother James "Sonny" Walden. He is survived by: his wife Daisy Stephens Walden; his children, Richard D. Walden, II (Tammy) and Pamala Walden; his stepdaughters, Loraine Onfroy Dean, Nadine Onfroy, Heather Walker and Beth Walker; and his siblings, Andrew "Mickey" Walden and Wanda Woods Jenkins (Tony). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Layton-Anderson Funeral Home (4210 W Palmetto St, Florence, SC 29501). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, May 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Florence National Cemetery (1009 Stockade Dr, Florence, SC 29506).
