He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Brassell and Esther Mitchum Brassell; his siblings, Willis Brassell, Ben Brassell, Leroy Brassell, Dorothy Harris, Tookie Murphy, Alma Morris, Wilson Brassell and Herbert Brassell; and his granddaughter Ciara Brassell.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Sue Branham Brassell; and his children, Linda Newman of Elgin, SC, Wade Brassell (April) of Lugoff, SC, Casey Klein (Mitchell) of Elgin, SC, James Brassell of Lugoff, SC and McKeever Brassell of Lugoff, SC. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
