It is with sadness that the passing of Richard Lee Carpenter Sr. of Elloree, South Carolina is shared. Richard, born on July 15, 1938, passed away on August 25, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Meldrim Carpenter and Catherine Hungerpiller Carpenter; his grandparents, Charles and Lorlie Hungerpiller; his wife Genevieve Dantzler; his son Robert Dean Carpenter; and his brothers, Bob, Jack and Roy.
He is survived by: his aunt Lois Hungerpiller; his son Dr. Richard Lee Carpenter Jr.; his daughter-in-law Liz; his grandchildren, Rachel Cooper (Seth), Katie Carpenter (Duncan Crotwell) and Dr. Charles Carpenter (Esther Balogh); his great grandchildren, Emma Cooper, Ada Cooper and Eleanora Carpenter; his brother William Carpenter (Audrey); and his girlfriend Jacqueline Berry. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Avinger Funeral Home (2274 Eutaw Rd, Holly Hill, SC 29059). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
