He was predeceased by: his parents, John L. Hughes and Ila Mae Laurence Hughes; and his brothers, Ronald K. Hughes (Rowdy) and William R. Hughes (Bill). He is survived by: his wife Betty Jo Knighton Hughes; his children, Rhonda Cox (Phil) of Woodruff, Christie Simmons of Enoree and Steve Hughes (Kim) of Roebuck; and his grandchildren, Brooke Holmes (Justin), Josh Cox, Shane Simmons (Mary Beth), Jake Simmons, Alex Simmons (Lauren Woodruff), Madeline Waddell (Preston), Emma Jauch (Mike) and Colt Hughes (Jordan).
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the Cedar Shoals Baptist Church (220 Cedar Shoals Church Rd, Enoree, SC 29335). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
