He is survived by : his children, Rebecca Nelson (George), Gracie Young, Katherine John, Raymond Gathers (Queen), Doris Dantzler, Jeremiah Gathers (Iona), Julius P. Gathers, Jr. (Cheryl), Janice L. Gathers, Betty Halls, Eddie Jefferson (Jessie), Earnest Jones (Vernell) and Amos Brown (Barbara); and his siblings-in-law, Amanda Frazier, Estelle Brown (Paul), Bernice Taste, Carrie B. Taste and Moses Brown. He is also survived by his fifty grandchildren, ninety-three great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
