She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary McElveen and Jessie David McElveen; her sons, Carl L. Matthews, Steve E. Matthews and Darryl L. Matthews; her brother Ronald McElveen; and her granddaughter Hannah Matthews.
She is survived by: her son David Matthews (Nancy) of Hartsville, SC; her siblings, Frankie McElveen of Tampa, FL, Marty Nebel of Manassas, VA and Linda Ruffin of Columbia, SC; and her grandchildren, Ashley Fowler, Grace Matthews, Liza Kelly and Caitlin Luther. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
