He is survived by: his wife Lura Mae Matthews; and his brothers, Nathaniel Matthews (Edna), Moses Matthews (Carolyn), Nathan Matthews and Leonard Bryan.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church (272 Church Rd, St Stephen, SC 29479). The military honors will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Florence National Cemetery (803 E National Cemetery Rd, Florence, SC 29506).
