He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Alma Bryant Simmons and Willie Clayton Simmons; his wife Barbara Thompson Simmons; his daughter Donna S. Dugan (Jim); his grandchildren, Grant Tyler Upchurch (Alyssa) and Tiffany Upchurch Jackson (Jay); his great grandchildren, Alexis Noelle, Jaxon Tyler, Paxton James Upchurch, Eliana Faith, Elijah Knight, Eden Grace, Ezra Judah and Evelyn Hope Jackson; his sister Barbara Simmons Lawson; his nephews, Slade Burton Lawson III and Christopher Bryant Lawson (Susanne); and his great-niece Reese.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Florence Baptist Temple (2308 S Irby St, Florence, SC 29505). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, May 29th 2025 at the Florence Memorial Gardens (3320 S Cashua Dr, Florence, SC 29501).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Frank Monroe Scholarship Fund, Florence Baptist Temple, 2308 South Irby St. Florence, SC 29505.
