Danny Michael Wainright Obituary
Danny Michael "Mike" Wainright, 66, of Florence, whose faith became sight after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away on
Friday, March 11, 2022, at Mcleod Hospice House.
Mike was born in Pitt County, NC a son of Dannie Alton Wainright and Doris Owens Wainright. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where he was the Music Director. He spread the gospel through song up and down the east coast through Mike Wainright Ministries. He retired from First Reliance Bank in 2019.
He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Avis Petrotta.
He is survived by his parents, Dannie Alton Wainright and Doris Owens Wainright; his wife Avis Starr Wainright; his children, Clayton Wainright (Amanda) and Jennifer Griffith (William); his grandchild Addison Griffith; his Lab, Bella, that he called his little girl; his siblings, Steve Wainright (Lydia) and Rhonda Wainright; and his niece Sarah Caroline Wainright.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dottie and Leo O'Neal, Dr. Ziad Skaff, Dr. Rajesh Bajaj, Dr. Mark Steadman, Dr. Michael Hsia, Dr. Temujin Chavez, Dr. Mo Bourji, the staff at MUSC and McLeod Cancer Centers, McLeod Hospice House and Jessie Tanner, Leslie Munn for coordinating his care, and also to the many friends and prayer warriors who walked with the family through this journey.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 306 Cherokee Road, Florence, SC 29501.
The family will receive friend form 2-3pm Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Immanuel Baptist Church with the service to be held at 3:00pm in the sanctuary. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
