He was predeceased by: his father David L. Carter, Sr.; his former wife Janice Lynch Carter; and his brothers, Donnie Wayne Carter, Johnny Lane Carter and Jimmy Dean Carter.

He is survived by: his siblings, Randy L. Carter, Brenda Anderson (Willie), Darlene Strickland (Donald), Rhonda Frye (Ricky) and Rita Reitzel (Victor); his fiancée Crystal Sturkie; his stepchildren, Reggie Lynch (Christy), Kevin Lynch (Courtney), Micky Lynch (Natalie), Jajuan Lynch, Lance Lynch, Sandra Register and Savannah Register; and his sister-in-law Angie Carter. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Layton-Anderson Funeral Home (4210 W Palmetto St, Florence, SC 29501). A graveside service was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Unity Christian Fellowship Church Cemetery (3652 Olanta Hwy, Timmonsville, SC 29161).
