He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey William and Martha Dickey Chambers; his former wife Essie Mae Chambers; his wife Paula Chambers; his son Benjamin Ray Chambers; and his siblings, Charlie Chambers, Louise Zumer, Lilly Ellis and Frances Ellis.
He is survived by: his children, Vivian Ann Chambers of Florence, Judy Carol Fowler of West Columbia, Bobbie Jo Flowers (Harvey) of West Columbia and David Chambers, Jr. of Aiken, SC; and his siblings, Rev. Joseph Chambers (late Juanita Chambers) of Charlotte, NC, Peggy Hall (late Buddy Hall) of Roxboro, NC and Ann Dotson (Ray) of Fredericksburg, VA. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews.
