He was predeceased by: his parents, James Raymond and Norma Jean Johnson Hyer; and his grandparents, O. Leo and Ora Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Pierce Hyer; his children, Richard Kevyn Hyer, Raymond Ashley Hyer, Jr. and Sonya Renee Hyer; his siblings, Mason Brunson, Linda Kane (Mike) and Beth Brown; and his grandchildren, Mazie Grayce Hyer, Devyn McLeod Hyer, Kennedy Rae Hyer and Raymond A. "Trip" Hyer, III.
