With solemn reverence, we commemorate Russell Lee Barnes Jr. of Florence, South Carolina, whose life came to an end on July 17, 2025 at the age of 73, leaving behind cherished memories. Though Russell may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Russell touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Lee Barnes, Sr. and Jo Barnes (Rogers). He is survived by: his wife Sheila Barnes (Houser); his children, Edward Barnes (Stephanie) of Chapel Hill, NC and Logan Barnes (Pawleys Island); and his grandchildren, Jack, Kate, Charlie and Annie Barnes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Central United Methodist Church (167 S Irby St, Florence, SC 29501). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
