She was predeceased by : her parents, Ira B. Huggins and Mamie McQueen Huggins; her husband Preston Monroe Blanton, Jr.; and her siblings, Howard Huggins, Claude Huggins, Clayton Huggins, Bright Huggins, Mildred Harrelson, Hazel Hinson, Flora McGougan and Voncile Huggins.

She is survived by : her children, Preston Monroe Blanton III (Pam) of Moncks Corner, SC and Beverly Blanton Parsons (George) of Georgetown, SC; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Blanton Hughes (Bryan), Michael Blanton, Hannah Parsons and Rebekah Parsons (Cody Floyd); her great grandchild Amelia Hughes; and her sisters, Lottie Ann Jones (Howard) of Bessemer City, NC and Betty Grainger (Junior) of Tabor City, NC.. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations can be made in Verna's memory to Folly Beach Baptist Church.
