He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Hector Wilkes and Ruby Parker Wilkes; his children, Julius Raymond "Ray" Wilkes, Jr. and Carla Jeanine Peele; and his sister Carolyn Frances Griffin.

He is survived by: his wife Jean C. Wilkes; his son Jason Wilkes (Jenniffer) of Lexington, SC; and his siblings, James Lefond Wilkes (Debbie) of Latta, Lloyd Lamar Wilkes (Wanda) of Florence and Lula Hodges of Dillon. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren.

His memory will be treasured, and his contributions to law enforcement and his community will never be forgotten.
