He is survived by: his children, Roy Sylvester Carter III of Fort Lawn, SC, Betsy Carter Coan (Fred) of Clover, SC and Melanie Carter Childers (Michael) of Winnsboro, SC; his sister Patsy Sutherland of Lancaster, SC; and his grandchildren, Fred Thomas Coan Jr., Kristen Coan, Roy Carter IV, Matthew Eric Carter, Ashley Childers and Hayley Carter. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren.
