He was predeceased by: his parents, James M. Hood and Margaret P. Hood; his brother James K. "Buddy" Hood; his niece Paige Telley; and his nephew Al St Clair.
He is survived by: his wife Diane McCurry Hood; his children, Justin, Holly Hood of Catawba, SC, Tyler and Trisha Hood of Lincolnton, NC; his granddaughter Natalie Hood; his sister Frances Dubberly of Tucson, AZ; his sister-in-law Vicki Hood of Clemson, SC; and his nieces and nephews, Ami Hood, Dana Dubberly, James "Jamie" Dubberly and Jim St Clair.
