He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Louis Gagnon, Sr. and Rachel Courtemanche Gagnon; and his siblings, Gary Gagnon, Johnny Gagnon, Frank Gagnon and Angela Gagnon.

He is survived by: his wife Paula Gilman Gagnon; his sons, Robert Louis Gagnon of Minot, ND and James David Gagnon of Alton, NH; his brothers, David Gagnon of Milford, NH, Joseph Gagnon of Northwood, NH, Donald Gagnon of Nashua, NH and Rusty Gagnon of Vermont; and his grandchildren, Jaylyn Gagnon and Amber Rae Gagnon. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
