He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Moore Gardner; his parents, Samuel Gardner and Bliss Gibson Gardner; and his siblings, Mike Gardner, Ronnie Gardner, Cecil Donaldson and Kay Warren.
He is survived by: his children, Scott Gardner, Derrick Gardner, Geoff Gardner of Denver, NC, Randy Helms of Charlotte, NC, Marla Hinson (James) of Gaffney and Kristy Helms of Denver, NC; and his sister Judy Lance of Kannapolis. He is also survived by several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
